Could you be the winner of the reFLOAT Regatta Cup 2023?

Taking place at the 185th Woodbridge Regatta & Riverside Fair on Sunday 18 June 2023 the reFLOAT Regatta will see a flotilla of model boats made from litter and materials we put in our recycling bins launched on the model boat pond at 1pm.

Anyone of any age can take part and the more boats we can see on the pond the better. If you would like to be in with a chance of winning this year’s reFLOAT Regatta Cup follow the guidelines below for taking part.

How to take part…

COLLECT YOUR MATERIALS

These can be items you pick up on a litter pick or items you would usually put in your recycle bin.

Plastic bottles, pots and trays are a good place to start. Please don’t use any items that may contaminate the Model Yacht Pond water.

You may use a small amount of other items (glue, sticky tape, string, etc.) but your vessel must be made of at least 90% collected litter or recyclable materials.

Please refrain from purchasing pre-made craft items or painting your vessel to maximise recyclability after the regatta.

BUILD YOUR VESSEL

Now it’s time to get creative! Use your imagination to build your vessel.

Please refrain from painting your craft and try to use as little glue, tape and non-recyclable materials as possible.

If you are not going to keep your masterpiece after the regatta then it would be great if you can still recycle as much of it as possible.

More about Woodbridge Regatta

The Woodbridge Regatta & Riverside Fair has now reached its 185th Anniversary, having only been absent for a few of those years due to war and more recently Covid, but it’s back even bigger and better than before.

As in times past it takes place all along the river from The Tide Mill to the Deben Yacht Club with this year’s event on Sunday 18th June. It’s Father’s Day so where better to bring the whole family for a lovely day out.

The Tide Mill, Woodbridge Museum and The Longshed will be open as well as lots of places to eat and drink. Families can head to the Bandstand for crafts, games and other activities as well as for registration for the crabbing competition held later in the afternoon. New this year there will be a Model Yacht Regatta on the
Pond.

Live music will fill the air at The Tea Hut, The Woodbridge Cruising Club as well as at Whisstocks Place where there will be Steel Pan and Latin Drum workshops to celebrate Windrush 75 later in June.
