Welcome to the UK’s first Vintage Litter Museum! A unique collection of vintage litter finds from around Great Britain (and beyond).
To qualify for entry into the museum items must have been found during a litter pick, river clean or beach clean, be clearly identifiable and produced/littered in the 1900s.
WHERE DID IT BEGIN?
Jason explains… Inspiration for my mini museum collection came back in 2018 after stumbling across websites such as museumoflitter.org and museumofbeyond.org.
I was already sharing my #VintageLitter finds across social media and was lucky enough to feature in the national press and radio numerous times.
I also used my growing collection as a mini litter museum during school visits and talks with local community groups.
In 2019 I decided to formally catalog my vintage litter finds and add them to the Rubbish Walks website. I remember posting “Maybe I’ll have time to create my mini museum of litter in 2020”. Little did I know at the time that a worldwide pandemic was around the corner and just how much time I would have!
I continue to be inspired by other groups and individuals who have their own mini museums/collections of litter and love seeing their finds. Every collection is unique and every single one helps to reinforce just how long these items persist in the environment.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Would you like your vintage litter find included in the museum?
We hope to build an interesting and useful resource for all to share and enjoy so we are constantly on the look out for new additions to the museum.
There are two ways your old litter can be featured – you can send us the item to include in the physical collection or you can send us an image and details to feature in the virtual collection.*
* Our main focus is to build a comprehensive physical collection of litter. However, we understand that you may wish to keep your item for your own collection/mini museum. As with any museum we think its important that all collections remain unique as this will add interest and variety for the visitor/viewer, therefore we ask that any submitted items of litter for the ‘virtual collection’ should not be part of any other existing virtual litter collection.
